本書是台灣前輩攝影家鄧南光(1907-1971)於1950年代末使用Minox迷你相機的創作系列。這台迷你相機又被稱為「間諜相機」,它的小巧特性不易讓被攝者察覺,鄧南光因而得以自若地穿梭於生活周遭,記錄下人與人的親密關係,拍攝的隨興感也造就了影像的私密性。

牛皮台紙上已銀化的銀鹽照片,與迷你相機的極小印樣,安靜地並列著。台紙背面則是鄧南光註記拍攝當時的情狀與技術資料。這種時代感與當代感並存的作品並不多見,這些靜物風景在鄧南光被普遍認識的鄉愁抒情、社會寫實風格作品以及女性肖像之後的五〇年代末至六〇年代初出現,亦說明了鄧南光個人與時代的背景。在許多幅作品中,可見其對構成、超現實等前衛攝影的實驗,此可推論至他在留日時期受日本新興攝影的影響,並反映當時他用心撰寫攝影美學論述的實踐。在鄧南光親手沖洗的這批作品中,不但展現出其出色的影像表現力,也說明其對於器材與品質的把握與要求。

Since the late 50s, Nan-Kuang Teng(1907-1971) frequently photographed with Minox IIIS, the "spy camera" that was almost unnoticeable in the public. With this camera, Teng was able to freely document the intimacy of people within the daily life. Mounted on the brown paper, the gelatin silver prints tranquilly juxtaposed with the tiny contact prints with handwritten technical details and personal notes on the back. It is rare to see photographs that contain both past and contemporariness. After his general comments on the nostalgia, the society, and the portraitures of women, the landscapes he photographed in the late 50s and 60s portray Teng’s personal and generational background. They reflect not only his background of avant-garde photography when studying in Japan but also his practice of photography aesthetic. From the photographs Teng made with his own hands, they reveal an extraordinary quality and show his high requirement to the equipment.
